Chocolate Spoon Bouquet
What you need:
Heavy plastic spoons
Milk chocolate
White chocolate
Chocolate sprinkles
Coloured sugar
Wax paper
Plastic wrap
Ribbon
Holiday mug
How to make it:
1) In microwave, melt the white chocolate in one bowl and the milk chocolate in another bowl.
2) Dip half of the spoons in white chocolate and dip the other half in milk chocolate. Dip them as far as the base of the spoon's bowl. Place on wax paper and let set completely.
3) When chocolate is set, dip the white spoons in milk chocolate, and dip the milk chocolate spoons in white chocolate. Dip only halfway up the bowl of the spoon to create a layered effect. Place back on wax paper to begin setting.
4) Let chocolate set only partially (about five minutes). Then gently dip spoons in chocolate sprinkles or coloured sugar and allow to set completely.
5) Wrap each spoon in plastic wrap and tie with a colourful ribbon.
6) Fan the spoons and tuck handle-end down into a holiday mug, and tie a season's greetings tag to the handle.
Holiday Gift Stocking
What you need:
Felt
Newspaper
Coloured marker
Masking tape
Fabric scissors
Glue
Ribbon
How to make it:
1) Make a pattern by drawing a large stocking shape on newspaper with the coloured marker. Cut out the pattern and tape it onto a doubled piece of felt. Using fabric scissors, cut around the pattern and through the felt. Supervise your child or do this step for her. Tip: You can create a zigzag edge by cutting with pinking shears.
2) On one of the felt cutouts, apply a line of glue 1/4 inch from the edge along both sides and around the foot, but not across the top. Lay the second cutout on top of the first, so that the edges match up. Then, set a heavy book on top of the stocking to make the seams stick.
3) Make a hanger for the stocking by tying a loop in a piece of ribbon or a strip of felt and gluing the knot to the back of the felt.
4) Personalize the stocking with the recipient in mind by tucking special gifts inside.
